Break-ins and thefts overnight in Weldon

At approximately 3.20am this morning, Saturday July 6th, thieves targeted a van parked on Deene End in Weldon. After breaking open the driver's door they cut a hole in the cage to gain access to the tools in the back.

A neighbour who was woken by the noise shouted and disturbed them which also alerted the van's owner and his family. The thieves then smashed the neighbour's kitchen window with a hammer before making off with a disc cutter from the van.

The police were called and attended the scene immediately, taking statements from witnesses.

Also a Peugeot car was broken into on Rose Avenue overnight and the interior ransacked. Nothing except approximately £8 in cash was taken.

Both of these break-ins come just one day after a Kia Sportage was broken into on Chapel Road.

If you have CCTV please check if you have any footage from either of these nights which may help.

Ensure vehicles are locked and alarmed (where possible) and remove all valuables.
