JUNE ROSE DAY AT WELDON SCHOOL

The annual 'June Rose Day' celebration will take place on the playing field at Weldon CE Primary School on Thursday June 20th from 1.15pm.

Pop along and see children performing traditional May Pole dancing, Morris dancing and more.

The picture above is of the 'May Queen', Margaret Jean Freer taken in 1943. Traditionally this celebration was called 'May Day' but the event, now held in June in the hope of better weather is now named 'June Rose Day'. Are you or a family member in this picture? We would love to know so please get in touch.

Do you have pictures of this event from days gone by that you would like to share with us? We already have quite a few dating back to the 1970s but would love to see more and add them to our forthcoming album for all to view.

Please email any pictures to editor@weldonvillage.co.uk
