New Secondary School

New secondary school between Weldon and Tresham Garden Village
The plans for the large new school on Oundle Road have been submitted to Corby Borough Council.
Cambridge Meridian Academies Trust submitted the plans, outlining the intention to build the Corby Secondary Academy, holding 1200 pupil, with a 300 pupil sixth form.
As it was reported back in March all Corby schools no longer have the capacity to take any more pupils between the ages of 11-16, this new secondary school will help ease the strain in Corby.
19 long months have been spent finding a suitable site in Corby for this new secondary school. 11 sites were considered before the site in Weldon was chosen. this was agreed with Weldon farmer Kenneth Argo, the site is expected to cost the government in the region of £2.5m.
They have planned in for a wide cycle and pedestrian path to be installed between the new school and Weldon, as they have forecast a lot of their pupils will be walking to school each day.
A roundabout is on the plans for the school's main entrance which will be opposite Bear's Lane.
There is no opening date as of yet but they are hoping for a quick turnaround for the scheme and hope to be complete by September 2020.
