After we recently reported on the proposed energy recovery centre for the area, we were contacted by the Company 'Corby Limited' with further information.
'The reference to syngas is in connection to the previous consented application in 2016. This new application uses a slightly different technology, which does not produce syngas and has been safely operating at plants across the UK and Europe for many years. The key difference in the technology is the use of additional oxygen in the energy recovery process.'
'The proposed facility will treat household and commercial waste. The plant will not treat hazardous or clinical waste. The plant will generate 23MW of clean electricity - enough to meet the energy needs of most of Corby's homes.'
