Steam train to pass through Corby

A Steam locomotive will pass through Northamptonshire, Rutland, Leicestershire and crossing the 82 arches of Harringworth Viaduct on Saturday 7th March when the Yorkshireman Railtour is on route to York.
In charge of the train will be A4 Pacific no 60009 Union Of South Africa. Following a stop to take on water at Kettering station approximate timings are:
Depart Kettering 9.30am
  • Corby 9.40
  • Gretton 9.45
  • Harringworth for the Viaduct 9.47
  • Manton Junction 9.55
  • Oakham 10.00
  • Melton Mowbray 10.20
  • Syston Junction 10.40

Time Travellers room on Platform 1 at Kettering Station run by Kettering Civic Society will be open from 9.00-10.30 to view items of interest plus there is an opportunity to get a closer look of the train.

On the return journey originally Steam locomotive, Princess Coronation Class No. 46233 'Duchess Of Sutherland' was booked to bring the train back expected to arrive at Kettering at 20.37 but due to operational circumstances the return journey will now be diesel hauled.
