Traffic calming at last!

After years of waiting the traffic calming scheme along High Street and Stamford Road is finally going ahead!

The duration of the works will be approximately three weeks commencing at on Monday September 7th 2020. The road closure will be installed at around 4am on that morning.

The plan shows Stamford Road will be closed between the A427 (Oundle Road junction) and Stamford Road/Deene End. Traffic will need to exit the village via Kettering Road or Corby Road.

Any vehicle access to Stamford Road is via School Lane only. Please do not park on School lane and remember to be respectful of the residents that live there.

I used the Spine Road on Monday 24th August. I hadn’t realised it was open until returning from Kings Cliffe. Let’s hope the traffic calming forces more and more drivers from trying to use the village as a rat run. cutting Kettering Road into two sections would certainly prevent that from happening, although that may not be an option suitable to all Weldon residents. Making it difficult for through drivers to use it at speed would be the better option all round.

Be nice if Persimmion got on with the main Spine road connection to A43… atm its just for deliveries. Would save alot of people on new estate going into village for access.

Roadsign on A43 coming from Stamford tells traffic to turn left at the new roundabout to access A427 Oundle. Unfortunately Persimmon have got the gates locked today at Airfield Way. So that’s going to cause some problems.
