VEDay75 in May 2020 is a three-day national and international event that is set to be one of the biggest commemorations of the end of World War 2 in Europe.
Tens of thousands of people will be taking part from 8th to 10th May 2020 in a whole range of inclusive events and this includes a party on Weldon’s Village green on Friday, May 8th.
Plans are still being finalised by members of Weldon branch of Royal British Legion but people living across the parish are encouraged to join the party.
Bring your picnics and blankets or seats from early afternoon.
Just before 3pm a bugler will play the Last Post and Reveille as part of the global commemorations. A piper will then play Battles O’er.
People can then settle down to an afternoon of traditional entertainment including a sing-along and fancy dress competition. Full details will be announced in the coming weeks.
Weldon Parish Council has given its generous backing to the event. This includes the hire of a marquee which could be available for other groups on Saturday, May 9th and Sunday, May 10th.
