Weldon Art Group was formed in 2003 and headed by Mike Dowling with many members coming from the local WI. We are a private non-profit making club with all members having the same single aim, enjoyment!
Now in its 16th year it has gained many new members, from the village and other local areas including Corby and Kettering. To date the group has 40 members and an average attendance of 27 per week.
The group meets every Thursday at the Weldon Village hall from 1.30pm until 4pm and each member pays £2.50 to attend. There is an annual membership fee of £10 per person.
Throughout the year members often organise still life events and workshops whereby a professional artist is hired and takes a class from 10am-4pm at a cost of around £25 per head. These are very instructive and enjoyed by everyone. Classes are offered in various mediums from oils, acrylics, water colours and pastels.
Every year the group host an exhibition of members paintings and admission is free. Over 100 pieces of art are shown with many available to purchase and commissions by some members as well. This year the exhibition will be on the weekend of 3rd & 4th August 2019.
