Happy April Fool's Day!
April Fool's Day is a yearly custom on April 1st, consisting of practical jokes and hoaxes.
Though the actual origins of April Fool's remains a mystery, some see it as a celebration related to the turn of the seasons, others believe it stems from the adoption of a new calendar.
In 1585, France switched from the Julian calendar to the Georgian calendar, as called for by the Council of Trent in 1563.
People who did not get the news or failed to recognise that the start of the new year had been moved to January 1st and continued to celebrate it during the last week of March through to April 1st became the butt of all jokes and hoaxes.
April Fool's Day came through to Britain in the 18th century.
